Prayer for the Spirit of Man

Prayer Audio:

The human spirit is a component of our creation that has been poorly understood. For this reason, the Church has been quite inefficient in ministering to the spirit of man. Most of the ministry I have personally witnessed has catered more to the soul than to the spirit. We are a three-part being, and God has a plan to minister to every part of us (1 Thessalonians 5:23). This prayer will target the spirit of man. It is extremely powerful, and can be applied to the spirit in a general sense. It can also be applied to the seven facets of the human spirit individually. These seven facets mirror the seven redemptive gifts of Romans 12: Prophet, Teacher, Exhorter, Ruler, Servant, Giver, and Mercy. In the underlined portions of this prayer, you will address the person’s spirit. For instance, if you were going to speak this prayer over me you would say, “Daniel’s spirit.” To target the specific portions of the spirit you would say, “Daniel’s prophet,” or “Daniel’s exhorter.” If the human spirit is held captive or in a region of captivity, there may need to be specific warfare before this prayer is effective.

Lord God, I thank you for your presence in our midst, for it is written that where two or three are gathered in your name you are in our midst. ___________________________, I bless you in the name of Jesus. I honor you in the name of Jesus. I invite you to be present at the surface. _________________________, I need you to remember a few things. You are light from Light, for it is written, nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising (Isaiah 60:3). You are fire, for it is written, the spirit of man is the lamp of the Lord searching all the inmost parts of his being (Proverbs 20:27). The Bible says that Jesus Christ came to baptize in the Holy Spirit and in fire (Matthew 3:11), and I decree over you that your flame is now being mingled with the fire of Jesus Christ. You are breath, for it is written that the LORD God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul (Genesis 2:7). You are that breath. You are wind, for it is written that the wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit (John 3:8). You are smoke, for it is written: there went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it (Psalm 18:8). I charge you with the strength and life of Jesus Christ, for you are strengthened with might by his Spirit in the Inner Man. Lord God, I praise you for ____________________. I speak over _____________________ right now and command the immediate removal of every impaling object, spear, arrow, tracking device, chain, handcuff, blindfold, gagging device, and counterfeit garment. I call for _____________________ to have oil of anointing poured over his/her head in large quantities. I call for ____________________ to be washed in living water and ministered the bread of life. I call for the stripes of Jesus to be applied to every wound and affliction of ________________________. I call for the application of the healing balm of Gilead, and I speak that the Sun of Righteousness will rise over ________________________ with healing in his wings. I open up a light emanating the glory of God over _______________________ and call for the issuance of new garments of righteousness in his/her favorite color. Thank you, Lord God, for the healing and restoration manifesting in _____________________. Amen.

  1. Hi,

Can I pray this over my almost 6year old son when he is not with me?

What prayer can I pray for someone thas spirit is in captivity but also he does not know that it is.

  2. Should we “feel” something after we pray this prayer? Should this be prayed multiple times? How does one know that their spirit has been affected by this prayer?
