End Times Fear: The Truth About the Antichrist's Power

Somewhere between the news alerts and the prophecy channels, a quiet panic has settled over many believers. Missiles fly in the Middle East. Commentators argue about World War 3, a Third Temple, and a coming Antichrist. And a lot of Christians scan every headline hunting for one thing: an exit strategy.

On an episode of Discovering Truth with Dan Duval, Daniel Duval names that end times fear out loud, then spends half an hour taking it apart with an open Bible. His whole case turns on a question most anxious readers never stop to ask: where does the Antichrist actually get his power? Duval teaches that the fear usually grows out of a specific way of reading Scripture, not out of Scripture itself. Many people were handed an interpretation that runs like this: God will let the Antichrist crush everyone who follows Jesus, so the only hope is to be removed from the earth first. That assumption drives the pre-tribulation rapture teaching, the belief that God will suddenly lift believers off the planet before trouble starts.

Duval has rejected that view publicly since 2008, a position he lays out in what he believes about the end times. On this episode he points to the long trail of failed rapture dates since the 1980s and offers a better starting point: reread the passages and watch who supplies the power.

Duval calls this the anchor point. Nothing in these verses says God hands the Antichrist anything. Every ability he will ever operate in is borrowed, and the only account he can draw on belongs to Satan. And Scripture says Jesus already disarmed the powers of darkness and put them on public display (Colossians 2:15). The Antichrist is taking out a loan from a bankrupt lender.

Daniel 7:21 describes a figure called the little horn making war against the saints, God's people, and prevailing against them until the Ancient of Days (a title for God) rules in their favor. Duval does not soften that verse. He answers it.

Different believers, he teaches, will walk through the same season with very different outcomes. Satan already prevails against some Christians today: people carrying unhealed wounds, family patterns no one helped them close, and a settled belief that darkness is stronger than God. Open doors like these are the collateral the enemy lends against, and an Antichrist will not change the terms. But a believer who has received deep healing and freedom leaves him nothing to seize. Duval presses this on the episode: the more healing and deprogramming the body of Christ receives now, the smaller the Antichrist's reach becomes later.

Daniel 8 connects the prophecy to today's headlines. A coming king shuts down the daily sacrifices in a temple, which is one reason some groups want a Third Temple built in Jerusalem: a sacrifice has to be running before this figure can stop it. Then Daniel describes the king himself:

Not by his own power. Even his destruction runs on credit. And the chapter says he will be broken without human means, which Duval ties to Revelation 19, where Jesus finishes the story in person. Duval closes with the point the whole teaching was built for. God did not send his people into this generation to hunt for an escape route. He sent them to stand. The end of the age is a showdown between light and darkness, and believers were placed in it on purpose, carrying real authority in Christ.
