Loosing in Prayer: Release Heaven's Help and Angels

Picture a thief slipping over a fence in the dark. He has watched this house for weeks, and tonight is the night. He picks the lock, walks in, and starts filling a sack with everything he can carry.

There is one detail he did not expect. By the side door stands a man holding four huge guard dogs, growling and pulling at their leashes. But the man never lets go. He just stands there crying out, "God, why do You keep taking everything I love?" The thief walks right past the dogs, robs the house, and leaves laughing. The whole time, the man had the power to stop him. He just never let the dogs loose.

Daniel Duval, the founder of Bride Ministries, has used a story like this to teach one of the most overlooked parts of prayer. A lot of believers are that man. They watch their peace, their family, and their joy get robbed, and they cry out to God, never realizing they are holding something on a leash that God told them to release. That release has a name in the Bible. It is called loosing.

The word comes straight from the mouth of Jesus. When He gave His followers spiritual authority, He named two actions in the same breath:

Most teaching stops at the first action, binding, which means tying up or stopping harmful spiritual activity. But Jesus paired it with a second action that is just as important. Loosing is the opposite of binding. If binding stops something bad, loosing releases something good. It is how you call in peace, help, protection, and the things of God over a person, a home, or a situation.

Notice the part in the middle of that verse: the keys of the kingdom. Daniel Duval teaches that these keys are the promises of God, the things Scripture already declares to be true. When you speak those promises over your life, you are using the keys. You are taking what is already settled in heaven and releasing it into your day.

That last point matters, and it has grown clearer in Daniel's teaching over the years. Loosing is not you twisting God's arm or producing something out of thin air. Heaven is a place where the answer already exists. Loosing is simply agreeing with what God has already decided and letting it come down to earth. You are not begging. You are releasing.

Stopping the bad is only half the job. Think of an empty room. If you only ever clear out what is wrong and never fill the space with what is right, you leave a gap. Good has to take the place of evil, or the empty space invites trouble back in.

This is where loosing comes in. Daniel Duval teaches that the two actions work together as a pair. You stop the harmful thing, and then you release the good thing to fill its place so nothing is left empty.

He gives a simple example. Before a Bible study or a meeting, you can stop the distraction and the arguing. But do not stop there. Release brotherhood, acceptance, peace, and joy into the room as well. The Bible gives you a whole list of good things to release. You can loose the fruit of the Spirit:

You can release wisdom, understanding, counsel, strength, and the deep respect for God that Isaiah describes resting on the coming King (Isaiah 11:2). Anything Scripture calls a gift of God is something you can pray to be released into your life and into the lives of the people you love.

This is where some people get nervous, so it helps to slow down. Daniel Duval teaches that you can also release angelic help into a situation. People sometimes ask, "Why would we need angels when we already have Jesus?" It is a fair question, but the Bible has a fair answer. God Himself keeps an army of angels. So what does He intend for them to do?

Scripture says it plainly:

Angels are sent to serve and help the people God is saving. That is their assignment. There is a moment in the Old Testament where a servant is terrified by an enemy army, until God opens his eyes and he sees the hills full of horses and chariots of fire surrounding them (2 Kings 6:17). The help was always there. He just could not see it yet.

Now go back to the man with the dogs. Many people stand exactly like him, with real help available and never released. When you ask God to send His angels to work on behalf of someone in trouble, you are doing what that man finally needed to do. You are letting the help off the leash.

A word of care here, because Bride Movement works with people coming out of some very dark backgrounds. Loosing angels is never about naming, summoning, or commanding spirits on your own authority, the way the occult tries to. It is simply asking God to release His help, in the name of Jesus, the same way a child asks a good father to send aid. The authority is His, not yours. You are agreeing with what He already wants to do.

It is easy to picture all of this as one lone person fighting the dark. That is not how Daniel Duval frames it today. Spiritual warfare is a kingdom assignment. A kingdom is a government with a King, and at the center of it all stands Jesus, who already holds every bit of authority. You are not freelancing. You are agreeing with your King and releasing what He has already declared.

That takes the pressure off. You do not loose good things because you are strong enough to make them happen. You loose them because heaven already holds them, and you have been handed the keys. Your job is to agree out loud and let what is settled above come down below.

So how do you actually do this? You say it out loud, simply and directly, in the name of Jesus. The point is not to memorize a script. It is to let the Holy Spirit guide you and to speak with confidence. Here are a few examples to show the pattern, not to recite word for word:

Notice how each one names something good and calls it in. That is the whole move. You stop what is harmful, and then you release what God already wants in its place, leaving no gap behind.

This is the partner truth to binding, the action that stops harmful spiritual activity. The two are two sides of one coin, and they are strongest when used together.
