Living From Heavenly Places: Access Your Blessings

Ask most people where they are, and they will tell you the room they are standing in. The kitchen. The car. The office. That answer is true, but it is the smaller truth. Daniel Duval, the founder of Bride Ministries, teaches that anyone who has received Jesus has a second and far more important address, one that holds authority over the first. The Bible says it plainly: God "raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus" (Ephesians 2:6).

Notice the tense. Not "will seat you one day." Made you sit, already, past tense. Heaven is usually pictured as a place you go after you die. Scripture also speaks of it as a place you are seated right now. Learning to live from that higher seat, instead of only from the room you are standing in, changes how a believer prays, fights, and waits.

When a person receives Jesus, their spirit, once dead to God, comes alive and is joined to the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:17). From that moment they live on two levels at once. They walk on the earth, and they are seated in heaven. Both are real. The difference Daniel Duval points to is which one carries more weight.

The room you are standing in can change overnight. A job ends. A diagnosis comes. A relationship breaks. Your seat in heaven does not move. It is anchored in what Jesus finished on the cross, and nothing on earth can reach up and unseat it. So the practical question is not whether you are seated in heaven. If you are in Christ, you are. The question is whether you are living from there.

Paul writes about this same two-level life to the Colossians:

That is not an order to ignore real life. It is an instruction about where to set your mind, where to take your cues from. A believer who only reads the room will feel as small as the room. A believer who lifts their eyes to their true seat reads their situation from a higher vantage, the way a person on a hilltop sees the road bend that the traveler on the ground cannot.

Here is the part that turns this from a comforting idea into a way to live. Bride Ministries describes that heavenly storehouse as Zion and the living stones, the believer's real address. The blessings God has for you are not all waiting in your future. Many of them are already stored, and Scripture tells you exactly where:

Read it slowly. Every spiritual blessing. Already given. Kept "in the heavenly places," the very place you are seated. Daniel Duval teaches that the believer's blessings are stored in that higher place and are meant to be drawn down into daily life by faith. Faith is the link between the storehouse above and the need below. In his book Higher Dimensions (Chapter 3), Duval describes spiritual blessings as held in a higher realm that must be reached for and brought into this world by faith, the way you reach into a cupboard for what is already on the shelf.

This is why faith matters so much, and why it is not a feeling you work up. The Bible defines it: "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" (Hebrews 11:1). Faith treats what God has already provided in heaven as solid and real, before it shows up on earth. The blessing is not created by your faith. It was created and stored by God. Your faith is the hand that reaches for it.

No. And this is where honesty matters, because some teaching makes it sound like you can mail your troubles to heaven and have them vanish by lunch. That is not how Scripture describes it, and that is not what Bride Ministries has seen in over a decade of walking with people through deep pain.

Living from heavenly places does not mean your body, your marriage, or your bank account instantly look like heaven. It means you stop letting the room you are standing in have the final word. You learn to ask God, in the middle of a hard thing, for the provision He has already set aside, instead of believing the hard thing is the whole story.

Daniel Duval ties this directly to the way Jesus taught us to seek. "Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you" (Matthew 6:33). The kingdom is the realm where God is King, the place where your needs are already accounted for. Paul promises the same supply has a source: "And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19). The riches are in glory. You access them by seeking first the One who keeps them, not by striving to manufacture them on the ground.

There is one more shift in this teaching that changes a person's whole day. It is also how the weapons of our warfare actually operate, from above rather than from below. Because you are seated in heaven and you are walking on earth at the same time, you do not have to travel anywhere to be near God. Daniel Duval often puts it this way: you carry heaven with you everywhere you go.

That means the line between holy moments and ordinary moments is thinner than most people think. A believer does not leave a worship service and then re-enter "regular life." They take the same seat in heaven into the grocery store, the hard conversation, the long night. This is also why temptation gets its power from a lie about location. The enemy whispers that you have left the holy place and slipped into a place where God is far off, so it no longer matters what you do. Daniel Duval describes this as being told you are somewhere you are not, like being told you are in the kitchen when you are actually on a roller coaster. The truth is steadier than the lie. Your seat did not move. God did not leave.

This is not complicated, but it does take practice. A few simple habits help a believer live from their true seat instead of only their street address.

• Start the day from above. Before you read the headlines or the to-do list, remind yourself out loud where you are seated. Read Ephesians 2:6 and Colossians 3:1-2 as a statement of fact, not a wish.
• Name what is already stored. When a need rises, instead of only asking God to create something new, thank Him that the provision is already kept for you "in the heavenly places," and ask Him by faith to bring it down.
• Answer the location lie. When you feel far from God, or like you have wandered too far to come close, say the truth back: your seat in heaven did not move. Come to Him as someone already seated, not someone locked outside.
• Set your mind on purpose. "Set your mind on things above" is a daily choice, repeated. The mind drifts back to the room. Gently lift it again.

It was learned early, often through real wounds, and it does not lift just because a person knows the verse. That is not a failure of faith.
