If You Belong to Jesus, This Fight Is Already Yours
A lot of believers think spiritual warfare is a job for the experts. It sounds like something for the bold prayer warrior on stage, not for the regular person trying to keep their family together and their head above water. So when the subject comes up, they quietly step back and assume it is not for them.
Daniel Duval, the founder of Bride Ministries, teaches the opposite. Spiritual warfare is not a special calling for a few people with unusual gifts. It is part of the normal life of anyone who follows Jesus. Stepping back from it does not keep you safe. It just leaves your ground undefended.
Did Jesus Actually Tell Us to Do This?
This is where the question has to start, because some Christians are not even sure the fight is theirs. Jesus settled it Himself.
“And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; (Mark 16:17)”
Notice the word "will." Jesus did not say His followers might do this if they felt called. He said they would. Daniel Duval points out that "will" is a binding word, the kind you use in a promise you do not plan to break. When Jesus uses it, He is not making a suggestion. He is describing what normal life looks like for the people who belong to Him.
So the real question is not whether you are qualified. If you follow Jesus, this is already part of who you are.
Casting Out Demons Is Bigger Than You Think
Here is where a lot of people get the picture too small. When they hear "cast out demons," they imagine a dramatic scene with one person and one evil spirit. That happens, but Daniel Duval teaches that it is only one corner of a much larger reality.
Evil spirits do not only attach to individual people. They can attach to objects, to places where dark rituals were done, to homes, to whole neighborhoods, cities, and even nations. Some are tied to large systems that influence many people at once. There is a structure to it, with lower spirits answering to higher ones. Scripture calls the highest of those ranks principalities, and getting free from a principality follows a different path than dealing with a common spirit.
At the very top of that structure sits the enemy himself. Scripture gives him a startling title.
“whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them. (2 Corinthians 4:4)”
"The god of this age" does not mean he is stronger than the real God. It means he has grabbed influence over a world full of people who do not yet know the truth. That is the territory in question. And every believer lives inside it.
How Did the Enemy Get So Much Ground?
If God owns everything, how does the enemy hold any ground at all? The answer goes back to the very beginning, and it is the key to the whole subject.
“Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." (Genesis 1:26)”
God owns the earth, but He handed authority over it to people. That was His design. The enemy cannot simply take what he wants. He gains ground only when people hand it to him, knowingly or not, through agreement with sin, through dark practices, through neglect. He builds his influence on borrowed permission.
Daniel Duval uses a simple picture to show how absurd the situation really is. Imagine someone building a factory in a city that does nothing but make poison. The poison gets sold, pumped into the air, slipped into the water, until the whole city starts to suffer. The man building it hires every crook he can find, and they all sign on for the money.
Now imagine another group was sent to that same city to make it healthy and clean. But instead of stopping the factory, they start arguing among themselves. Some say there is no factory at all and call anyone who mentions it crazy. Others worry that talking about evil too much only gives it attention, so they stay quiet. A few even sneak over to ask the factory owner for a job. The owner watches all this and laughs, because the most ridiculous part is this: the group arguing on the sidewalk actually holds the legal deed to the land his factory sits on. They could evict him any time they wanted. They just never do.
That is the picture Daniel Duval paints of a church that knows the enemy exists but never moves against him.
You Hold the Deed
The reason that parable stings is that it is true. Believers really do hold the legal right, because of what Jesus already did and already owns.
“All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. (Matthew 28:18)”
“I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death. (Revelation 1:18)”
Jesus has all authority, and He holds the keys. Then He turned around and shared that authority with His people.
“Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. (Luke 10:19)”
Read that slowly. Authority over all the power of the enemy. Not some of it. The deed is in your hand. The question Daniel Duval keeps pressing is simple: are you going to use it, or stand on the sidewalk and argue?
This is not about hunting demons everywhere you look or living in fear. It is about taking back the ground the enemy was never supposed to have, starting with the ground closest to you.
Start Where You Stand
Here is the part that protects you from going off the rails. Holding the deed does not mean you charge out to pray over an entire city on day one. Daniel Duval is clear that warfare has a scope, a sphere of authority that God assigns to each person.
That sphere usually starts small and personal: your own heart, your home, your family, your property. Those are places you already have the right to defend. From there, with the right leadership and agreement, it can grow to a workplace or a ministry. Praying over a city or a nation is a heavier assignment that belongs to those God has specifically sent and mandated for it. Reaching past your sphere is not bravery. It can bring real trouble onto you and the people you love. If you are not sure where to begin inside your own sphere, this guide to spiritual warfare training shows where beginners start.
So the call is not to overreach. It is to stop standing still. Most believers, Daniel Duval observes, treat their authority the way someone might stare up at a coconut tree and wait for one to drop on its own. Every now and then one falls, and they call it a win and go back to waiting. The fruit is real, but it stays out of reach until someone is willing to climb. Climbing takes vision, training, and effort. It means actually using what Jesus handed you, in the place He put you, instead of hoping things improve on their own.
When you do, the whole fight changes, because the weapons are not what they look like.
“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, (2 Corinthians 10:4)”
The tools of this fight are not human strength, cleverness, or volume. They are spiritual, and they carry the power of God behind them. That is why an ordinary believer, standing on the authority of Jesus inside their own sphere, can shift things that no amount of human effort ever could. The weapons of our warfare are worth understanding on their own, because knowing what you carry changes how you stand.
For many people, the first ground that needs to be taken back is not a city or a house. It is the inside of their own heart, where old wounds and old agreements still give the enemy a foothold. That is real warfare too, and it is not meant to be fought alone or in shame. The free healing assessment from Bride Movement takes about two minutes, it is private, and it points you toward the next step for the ground God wants to give back to you.
