Courts of Heaven: Freedom From Principalities

A claim can be canceled. That is the hope underneath everything in this article. In part one, we looked at what a principality is and how it gains a foothold in a person's life, almost always through some kind of agreement that grants it a legal right. This article is about how that right gets answered, so the grip lets go.

Daniel Duval, the founder of Bride Ministries, teaches that the place this happens is the Courts of Heaven. That phrase simply means coming before God as the Judge of all things and presenting your case to Him, the way you would bring a matter before a court. The enemy works through legal claims. So freedom comes through a legal answer, settled in the highest court there is. Think of an ordinary courtroom. There is a judge, a record of what happened, evidence, and a verdict. Scripture shows God as exactly this kind of Judge, seated on a throne, with justice as the floor He stands on. The cross is what makes the case winnable. Paul describes what Jesus did to the legal record that stood against us:

That word "handwriting" is courtroom language. It means a signed record of debt, the paperwork that holds a claim in place. Jesus did not ignore it. He canceled it. And in the very next breath, Paul names what that did to the high-ranking powers:

So the Courts of Heaven is not a new idea or a magic technique. It is agreeing with what the cross already did, and asking God the Judge to apply it to the exact claim that has been holding you.

Here is where the old way of thinking has to change. People often want a perfect set of words, a formula they can read out loud to make a spirit leave. Daniel Duval is clear that this is not how it works. The words are not the power. The blood of Jesus is the power, and your honest agreement with Him is what brings it to bear.

A prayer can be a helpful guide. But a guide read with a cold or divided heart does nothing. What matters is the posture of your heart before God: honest, willing, and in agreement with Him. Scripture warns that a divided person, asking one way while pulling another, does not receive. So the first step is not finding the right script. It is bringing a whole, open heart to the Judge and meaning it.

In Bride Ministries' teaching, the Courts of Heaven follows a clear order, less like a chant and more like a case being heard. Here is the shape of it, in plain terms.

Come before God and ask Him to hold court. You are not sneaking up on a spirit. You are stepping into the presence of the Judge and asking Him to hear your case. This alone changes the whole encounter. The fight is no longer you against a power that is stronger than you. It is the power, on trial, before a God it cannot beat.

Let the real claim be surfaced. Ask God to bring the hidden agreement into the light: the dedication, the bloodline tie, the door that trauma opened, whatever granted the legal right. You do not have to already know what it is. You do not have to remember every detail. Daniel Duval teaches that the Holy Spirit, whom Jesus called the Spirit of truth, will show what needs to be shown. Your job is a willing heart, not a perfect memory.

Repent and revoke the right. Where there was sin, confess it. Where there was an agreement, even one made over you without your consent, renounce it and revoke it. Daniel Duval often describes this as serving the claim a notice that the deal is over. This is the legal turning point. It removes the reason the power had to stay. Where the root runs back through a family line, resolving iniquity at its root is what makes the freedom hold.

Apply the blood of Jesus. This is the heart of the whole thing. The blood is what cancels the handwriting against you and seals what God has done. It is also how the people of God overcome the enemy in the first place:

Receive the verdict and the restoration. Ask God to render His verdict, and receive it. Daniel Duval teaches that God is a God of justice who does not just evict the intruder; He restores what was stolen, often far beyond what was taken. The ground the power was squatting on is handed back to its rightful King, and Jesus takes the throne of that part of your life.

There is a reason the case moves in this order, and not the other way around. Remember what Jesus said about plundering a strong man's house: you bind the strong man first, then clear out his goods. The legal claim is what makes the principality strong. Cancel the claim, and the strong man is bound. Only then do the smaller spirits under it lose their power source and clear out.

This is why so many people who only rebuked the spirits stayed stuck. They went after the goods while the strong man's legal right was untouched. The Courts of Heaven deals with the strong man first, at the level of the actual claim, which is why it sets people free where years of shouting did not.

And the authority to do this is not reserved for a few experts. Jesus gave it to His people:

This kind of freedom is real, but it is not a do-it-alone project for someone in deep pain. Where a principality gained access through severe abuse or trauma, there are often wounded places that need gentle, patient care, not a quick prayer. Daniel Duval teaches that healing is a process, not a one-time event, and that this work was never meant to be done alone or rushed.

So if something has been holding on and will not lift, the wise next step is not to force your way through a prayer by yourself. It is to walk it with people who do this with care. You bring the willing heart. God brings the verdict. Trained help brings the steady hand for the road.
