Spiritual Defense: A Daily Habit That Protects You

Some days feel like getting knocked around the moment you wake up. A bad phone call. A wave of fear that comes from nowhere. A fight with someone you love over almost nothing. You patch one thing and another one breaks. By bedtime you are worn out and you are not even sure why.

My feet are ready with the good news of peace. I take up the shield of faith to stop every burning arrow aimed at me. I put on the helmet of salvation and I take up the sword of the Spirit, which is your word. I pray this in the name of Jesus, Amen."

The second habit is pleading the blood of Jesus. The phrase simply means asking God to cover something with the protection that Jesus paid for when He gave His life.

Why does the blood carry such weight? Daniel Duval teaches that the blood of Jesus opened a brand new agreement between God and people, a far better one than anything before it.

That word "covenant" just means a binding promise. The blood is the doorway to every promise in that better agreement. Scripture says it even speaks.

Scripture even names the blood as one of three witnesses of God on the earth.

So when you plead the blood over your life out loud, you are not chanting magic words. You are standing on a real promise and asking God to enforce His protection over what matters to you.
