Interesting comments about “hostile intent.” One of my professors in a two-year pastoral counseling program decades ago said that whenever we try to change people or churches or groups, the object of such an intention will experience it as “hostile.” God loves us too much to leave us where we are…
However, I read an interesting news article today about places in Brazil where the old spiritist temples and priests, with spirit-possession traditional religions like Camdobole etc. were being forcibly shut down by newly converted gang members who had become Christian but perhaps did not understand that “the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty in God to the tearing down of strongholds.” People were being “converted at gunpoint,” witch doctors were being given a choice between dying or allowing all their witchcraft paraphernalia to be burned and destroyed, etc. The author of the article said that the whole trend was towards…theocracy. Which doesn’t sound so bad, actually, But I have some serious qualms about this sort of activity, as God does give us free will and it seems like a form of spiritual abuse not to allow people’s minds and hearts to be persuaded by the Truth, but instead to be forced away from their satanic practices by force. When Patrick converted Ireland, he did have “power encounters” with the pagan worshipers, but it was not a matter of threatening their lives. It was more like Moses and the Egyptian magicians. So we need, perhaps, to clarify what kind of “hostile intent” we are talking about here. Don’t we? On the other hand, there was Elijah at Mt. Carmel, I just didn’t think that God meant that kind of hostile intent today.
This is relevant, timely, and empowering! I will be asking God more and better questions to walk in full obedience as a result of this message. Thank you, Daniel, for not needing the spotlight and being willing to introduce your listeners to credible leaders.
Extremely exciting….and this is normal ‘christian’ life…..words of knowledge/wisdom…..commitment…yes. everyone should WANT to be cleaner. more honed..face like flint…mountain doorway -quicker but will not see well and will be more painful….Rick Joyners’ book–Final Quest…..
